Marya is a California State Licensed Acupuncturist. She received her Master’s in Traditional Chinese Medicine from Five Branches University in Santa Cruz. While training in acupuncture, Marya interned at the Veteran’s Community Clinic at Five Branches and at the Mental Health Client Action Network in Santa Cruz. During this time she gained experience working with patients who suffered from PTSD and anxiety as well as those suffering from physical aliments, including asthma, pain, and digestive disorders.
Marya has long been interested in health and helping others, and prior to her training in Traditional Chinese Medicine, she received her undergraduate degree in Psychology from UC Davis. Upon discovering Chinese Medicine, she was immediately drawn to its ability to treat mind, body and spirit. Through her studies and clinical experience, Marya has witnessed the integral role that treating all three has in the healing process. Her deep interest in addressing both the physical and emotional well being of her patients led her to receive additional training in Five-Element Acupuncture, a treatment style that uses the principles of nature and its elements to restore balance to the body.
Marya’s clinical experiences have provided a platform for her to better understand the needs of her community and she is passionate about educating and providing Traditional Chinese Medicine in a community setting. When Marya is not practicing acupuncture, she is hiking in the redwoods, traveling, and spending time with friends and family.
